Welcome to the Raritan Township Emergency Services page. Here you will find an easy-to-navigate list of our emergency services. Each organization below ensures public safety, security, and health by addressing and resolving different emergencies (i.e., fires, medical crises, and disasters). These members are also known as first responders. To learn more about each of the township’s emergency services, click on the organization’s hyperlink.

Raritan Township Police Department (RTPD)

The RTPD is 36-officer law enforcement agency sworn to keep our community a safe place to live, work, and visit. The department is made up of a variety of divisions and units, including patrol, investigations, and internal affairs. Raritan Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

The Township OEM is responsible for maintaining and enforcing the New Jersey State Disaster Laws. Pursuant to N.J. Stat. § App.A:9-43.3, the state regulation requires every municipality to have a state approved Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and to appoint a Coordinator. Residents can find resources and sign-up for township-related alerts for travel, weather, among other information.

Raritan Township Fire Company (RTFC)

Serving the residents of Raritan Township and the surrounding area since 1958, the RTFC is a 100% volunteer fire company that operates out of three firehouses around the township, as well as one administrative building and one training structure. Their area of coverage spans 38 square miles surrounding the borough of Flemington, including the life and property of more than 25,000 residents.

Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad (49 Rescue)

Established in 1952 and dubbed as “49 Rescue,” the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad is a combination volunteer and career Emergency Medical and Rescue Services provider serving Flemington Borough, Raritan Township, and parts of Readington and Delaware Townships. With more than 50 square miles of coverage area and 60 active members, 49 Rescue’s average response time to emergency calls is under 8 minutes.
