Welcome to the Recreation Department
Our mission is to provide safe and well-maintained parks and to create opportunities for the members of our community to participate in a variety of affordable programs. Programs will provide a fun, safe and creative atmosphere in which each participant may socialize and make positive discoveries about themselves, those around them, and their environment.
Recreation Programs
Summer Intersession 2026 – REGISTRATION OPENS END OF FEBRUARY | PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR MORE UPDATES
Raritan Township Recreation offers one-month summer camps for children in the Flemington-Raritan School District, grades K–5, plus a Fun at Four program. The registration portal will be provided at the end of February.
Dates: Thursday, July 2 – Friday, July 31
Locations: Barley Sheaf & Copper Hill Elementary Schools
(Fun at Four is held at Copper Hill only)
AM Session | $250
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Early drop-off at 8:00 a.m., no charge)
Includes water activities, group games, arts & crafts, theme days, and more. Runs rain or shine.
PM Session | $350
12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Includes lunch time (bring lunch & drink; snack provided), childcare, movies, reading club, writing time, and more. Children must bring a book daily.
Children may attend AM, PM, or both sessions.
Eligibility: Children must be at least 5 years old by June 29, 2026 (no exceptions).
Fun at Four Program | $425
Fun at Four is a preschool summer program led by certified early childhood teacher, Ms. Lisa Hutchinson, with counselors. Daily activities include songs, stories, creative art, free play, drama, puppetry, science, nature, and gardening. Children are separated from older campers unless joint activities are planned.
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | In-District Only
Children must be 4 years old by June 29, 2026 (no exceptions).
Junior Counselors (Volunteers)
Students who have completed 6th grade are eligible to apply for a Junior Counselor position. Positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, contingent upon several factors, including teacher recommendations, camp enrollment numbers, school conduct, performance as a camper, and/or prior experience as a Junior Counselor.
Site location is not guaranteed. Applications for Junior Counselor positions will be released in April – please check back later.
Junior Counselors are not required to pay for the AM session of camp. If a junior counselor decides to remain at camp for the PM Session, the $350 fee applies.
Counselors (Paid Positions)
Counselor positions are offered by invitation only. Unsolicited applications will not be accepted. While prior experience as a Junior Counselor is valued, it does not guarantee a Counselor position.
Additional Programs
Field Hockey League – This program is designed to teach kids that field hockey is fun! Our field hockey program will cover many different aspects of the game, including fundamental skills, game strategies, specialties such as corners and game rules. CLICK HERE for more information.
Ski Club – Every winter, the Township sponsors a ski club for students in 5th – 8th grade who are residents of Raritan Township or Flemington Borough. The cost of the club includes transportation by bus and lift tickets at a nearby ski resort. Registration is now CLOSED – please check back later.
Adult Basketball – The Township runs adult basketball programs at schools in the Flemington-Raritan Regional School District. Registration is open to residents of Raritan Township and their teammates. CLICK HERE for more information on Adult Basketball.
Adult Volleyball – Love to stay active, meet new people or enjoy some friendly competition? The Adult Volleyball League has a structured and welcoming environment to give you all three! Games are held Monday nights from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at J.P. Case Middle School, providing a convenient evening option for adults of varying skill levels. Whether you’re looking to stay fit, sharpen your volleyball skills, or simply have fun after a long day, the league offers an energetic and social atmosphere! Township Parks
There are five parks located throughout the 37+ square miles that make up the Township:
- Blackwell Park
- Lenape Park
- Lone Cedar Park/Nature Preserve
- Mine Brook Park
- Morales Nature Preserve
In addition, there are many Open Space parcels that offer trails for hiking and beautiful views of the surrounding area. Park facilities, such as playing fields and pavilions, require advance reservation via a Facility Use Form. Reservations are managed by the Department of Public Works.
