About the Recreation Department

Our mission is to provide safe and well-maintained parks and to create opportunities for the members of our community to participate in a variety of affordable programs. Programs will provide a fun, safe and creative atmosphere in which each participant may socialize and make positive discoveries about themselves, those around them, and their environment.

Recreation Programs

Summer Intersession 2025 – Raritan Township Recreation offers month-long Summer Intersession camps for children in the Flemington-Raritan School District, grades K-5. Registration opens around the last week of February. We will announce an opening date before we release registration. Please watch this page for updates.

Camps are held at Barley Sheaf and Copper Hill Elementary Schools (Fun at Four is only available at Copper Hill). Camps run from Thursday, June 26th – Friday, July 25th. Parents, camp will be closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

  • AM Session: $250.00 | The program includes water activities, large group games, board games, arts and crafts, theme days, and more. The program operates RAIN or SHINE.
    • Group activities take place between 9 a.m. – 12 noon. Early drop-off available at 8 a.m. (no additional charge)
  • PM Session: $350.00 | Afternoon program includes the following: time for lunch (each child should bring his/her own lunch and drink; an afternoon snack will be provided), quality childcare, some movies, reading club, writing time, and more. Each child is to bring a book for our daily-required reading time (non-readers will be read to).
    • 12 Noon – 5 p.m.

Note: Children can attend either the AM or PM session or both.

Children participating in the AM/PM sessions must be at least 5 years old by June 29, 2025. NO EXCEPTIONS.

REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER INTERCESSION CAMP 2025 IS NOW OPEN. YOU MUST COMPLETE THE EMERGENCY FORM AND THE RELEASE OF LIABILITY.

Copper Hill Summer Intersession 2025

Fun-at-Four 2025

Attention all Junior Counselor Applicants: For the 2025 season, we will accept applications for Junior Counselors in April. We will make a formal announcement until then, so stay tuned!

Field Hockey League  This program is designed to teach kids that field hockey is fun! Our field hockey program will cover many different aspects of the game, including fundamental skills, game strategies, specialties such as corners and game rules. CLICK HERE for more information.

Ski Club – Every winter, the Township sponsors a ski club for students in 5th – 8th grade who are residents of Raritan Township or Flemington Borough. The cost of the club includes transportation by bus and lift tickets at a nearby ski resort. CLICK HERE for more information on Ski Club.

Adult Basketball – The Township runs adult basketball programs at schools in the Flemington-Raritan Regional School District. Registration is open to residents of Raritan Township and their teammates. CLICK HERE for more information on Adult Basketball.

Township Parks
There are five parks located throughout the 37+ square miles that make up the Township:

  • Blackwell Park
  • Lenape Park
  • Lone Cedar Park/Nature Preserve
  • Mine Brook Park
  • Morales Nature Preserve

In addition, there are many Open Space parcels that offer trails for hiking and beautiful views of the surrounding area. Park facilities, such as playing fields and pavilions, require advance reservation via a Facility Use Form. Reservations are managed by the Department of Public Works.
