RARITAN TWP., N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Raritan Township Committee adopted an ordinance at their public meeting on Jun. 17 authorizing the Township to establish a Stormwater Utility.
According to Ordinance No. 25-22, the establishment of this Utility, in compliance with State-mandated stormwater management regulations, provides dedicated funding to address stormwater issues in the Township. It will go into effect Jul. 1, 2025.
To fund the Utility, the township will be issuing a Stormwater Utility Bill to every property owner. The first bill will be sent on or around Sept. 1 and will be for a partial year. Future bills will be for a full year and will be due in the first quarter of each year.
Stormwater Utility fees are calculated based on the amount of impervious coverage (i.e., surfaces/structures that don’t allow water to penetrate the ground) on a property. The fees for single family residential properties are based on estimated impervious coverage; commercial and multi-family properties fees are based on the actual amount of impervious coverage.
For more information about the Township’s Stormwater Utility, please click here for a copy of the adopted ordinance. Residents and members of the public may find additional Introduced and Adopted Ordinances through the Township's online municipal code platform.
