“Take it Easy on the Gas”: Hunterdon County Reduces Speed Limits on Route 523

RARITAN TWP., N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution decreasing speed limits along Flemington-Stockton Road (“County Route 523”) in Raritan and Delaware Townships and Stockton Borough at their Feb. 3 meeting.

Both directions on the 11-mile stretch of County Route 523 from Stockton to Raritan Township were reduced to seven designated zones from Route 29 in Stockton to the Route 12 circle in Raritan Township. The new speed limits range from 25 mph to 45 mph depending on the zone.

Below are the locations in Raritan Township and the corresponding reduced speed limits:

• 45 mph in Delaware Township and Raritan Township to the center of South Autumn Leaf Boulevard; and

• 40 mph in Raritan Township to the N.J. Route 12 circle.
