Community Solar Now Available to Raritan Township Residents
The Township of Raritan is pleased to announce a Community Solar program available to residents who are Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) customers. The program is regulated by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU), and participation is voluntary. You may have received a mailer this week.
What it is
Community Solar lets you subscribe to a share of a local solar project without installing anything at your home. As the project produces energy, it generates credits that are applied directly to your JCP&L bill. You continue to receive electric service from JCP&L exactly as you do today.
What you get
- 35% savings on applied solar credits
- Credits and savings appear directly on your monthly JCP&L bill
- One bill from JCP&L, with no separate solar bill and no additional payment to set up
- No enrollment fees, no credit checks, no long-term commitment
- Open to renters and homeowners
Because there is no rooftop installation, the program is open to households that have never had a realistic path to solar, including renters, residents of multi-family buildings, and homeowners whose roofs are shaded, aging, or otherwise unsuitable.
Income-qualified households
New Jersey requires that at least 51 percent of all available Community Solar capacity be reserved for low- and moderate-income households. If your household may qualify, you are encouraged to enroll. Solar Simplified confirms eligibility as part of enrollment.
