Digging Underground? Call Before You Dig!
DID YOU KNOW: New Jersey requires anyone digging to register their excavation work first? Digging can be a dangerous activity.
Pursuant to the Underground Facility Protection Act, better known as the “One Call Law,” and codified as N.J.S.A. § 48:2-73 et seq., anyone digging, homeowner or contractor, is required to call 1-800-272-1000 or dial 8-1-1 before any work can be done.
The one-call system will notify operators of underground facilities to indicate your planned activity. You must wait at least three (3) full business days (excluding weekends and holidays) for your mark out and not more than ten (10) days before you start your project, and your notification is valid for 45 business days.
